   who cares whether it's us-centric or not. it makes no difference,   
   except to someone who hates the usa.   
      
   the telephone and touchtone (with its * and # on the keypad) were   
   invented in the usa, so the usa gets to decide what it's called.   
      
   why do you have such a difficult time in accepting that pound is a   
   valid name for # on a phone keypad? accept it and move on.
