   That explains my problem. I thought it was TB that you had downloaded,   
   and you had found that it worked OK. I even took the trouble to install   
   an absolutely virgin Thunderbird on another XP PC to try and see where   
   the missing bits in your Options box had gone!   
      
   Fortunately, it was not time totally wasted. I actually had a problem   
   with the new installation. I couldn't connect to the email servers, but   
   after some Googling, I found that it needed a server setting that was   
   different from the 'correct' setting - the one that works perfectly well   
   on this PC.   
      
   Nevertheless, despite TB's idiosyncrasies, I don't think I'll bother   
   trying Outlook Express Classic in the immediate future - but best of   
   luck with it.
