How To Get Rid Of Double - E (E) - Lette

   I'm using Win XP.   
      
   Somewhere along the line I goofed when renaming a drive.   
      
   I am now stuck with my E: (External) drive with a double letter - E   
   (E) -  instead of a single letter.   
      
   I keep trying to rename it with a single letter in Device Manager to   
   no avail.   
      
   The original mistake I made had it sharing the name of my G: drive -   
   as such - E (G).  I now managed to get it to display as E (E).   
      
   Suggestions?
