   I think maybe you have that wrong; the "program" does update the file,   
   but the wordpad text is unchanged, as it has not been told to (re-)open the   
   updated file. So the obvious thing to do is to write a batchfile using   
   taskkill - oh the OP doesn't want that. Or use press F5 in Notepad2.
