Well I just run a game I wrote 40 years ago in z80 asm and it runs fine
on the Fuse emulator but thanks for the prompt. I needed to test that
for the sake of humanity and just in case I meet someone someday who has
a fleeting interest. It's a dream I doubt will ever realise but you give
me hope. Does that count? I did convert it from tape to .tap probably
20+ years ago. Is that cheating? I'm not sure what the rules are, if
any, for running stuff that old. Let me know. Are you the oracle in such
   matters? I hope so.

TBH, I prefer to run stuff that old on the original hardware for lots of
reasons but that's a debate for another time. I look forward to your
reply to occam as I am genuinely intrigued about what programs from that
era are so important to you that you recommend foregoing Microsoft's
latest and greatest. To me it's simple. It will soon be their only
supported OS and security updates are my utmost priority. "Avoid Windows
11" you say. Is that "at all costs"? Sounds a bit reckless to me in
exchange for a bit of nostalgia you could indulge in many other ways. No?
