   1) in the EU, the commission made Tesla open the charging network
      to others.
   2) in the USA, Ford, GM and VolksWagen (I think) made a deal with Tesla
to switch to the Tesla interface standard beginning with
(I think) the 2026 model year

As a result, firmware uddates and plug adapters are now available.
Some Tesla chargers now have more than one type of plug.
But there are many variations. In some cases only "Level 2"
charging is available from the "wrong" type or brand of charging
station. That is only 8 kW ... roughly 30 miles of range per charging
   hour.
