Nope. Odds are that the "services" are running on servers in Eire,
the Irish Republic, because that's cheaper and the tax law and
incentives to locate there are better. Eire *used* to be part of "The
United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland", a while back but it
hasn't been for almost a century.

There's still a rather odd, sticky-out bit at the top end of the
island of Ireland that is sometimes considered to be part of "U.K.G.B.
and N.I." by some people but that's contentious and an irritation to
many on and off the island, and it's tax laws and incentives muchly
align with those of London. Mostly. Sort of.

You are right that USofAn guys may *own* the servers and services but
a lot of them are physically quite close to us.

   > So the US

   >(government's) access to it.

Technically, in some ways, Eire may also be able to annoy London.
Maybe. They usually don't. They are usually smarter than that and a
lot nicer. Also, they know that there's no real point. That's part of
   "usually smarter". :)

   >On a small scale this is already practiced
   >(ICC judges, etc.), so 'we' only have to wait for a full-scale event.

You are correct in that storing my stuff on a USofAn-owned computer
subject to the whims of a petty, childish tyrant is maybe not the best
way to protect and to ensure full access to it but that is not
something we, as individuals can do anything to remedy. It is far too
   late to change.
