   Define won't work with gmail.   
   The usual setup is imap using SSL/TLS security with OAuth2 authentication.   
      
   Are you referring to POP3 functionaility?   
   If so OAuth2 instead of password would still be necessary since Google   
   discontinued supporting ' less secure app' access.
