   Elsewhere in this thread (in the discussion of Yahoo-mail NOW failing to   
   download e-mail into an local SeaMonkey e-mail) it was suggested to try   
   a new profile to see if that worked.   
      
   Just FYI, I've just now created a new Profile (Tools - Switch Profiles -   
   Manage Profiles -> Create Profile) and, in that Browser Only   
   incarnation, I tried logging into my Yahoo mail account (then went and   
   made my Dinner) ..... and failed with the spinning wheel span and span.   
      
   So I don't think making a new Profile will fix the OP.
