OAuth2 required. POP3 and IMAP not supported.
     Outlook and Thunderbook support OAuth2.

OAuth 2.0 is required for institutional Microsoft 365 accounts because
Microsoft has deprecated basic authentication (username/password) for
services like Exchange Online, and is now requiring OAuth 2.0 for modern
authentication. This means that applications and services must use OAuth
2.0 to access M365 data, as most older methods are being phased out to
   improve security.

   Why OAuth 2.0 is required
Security: OAuth 2.0 provides a more secure way for applications to access
M365 data without using the user's password directly.

Modern Authentication: Microsoft is moving to modern authentication
methods, and basic authentication for protocols like POP, IMAP, and SMTP
is being disabled for new accounts and eventually for all accounts.

Application access: Any third-party application or service that needs to
interact with M365 services, such as sending emails via Exchange, must be
   configured to use OAuth 2.0.
