That's what I thought. At the time, I realized that the author would
have to do some extra coding by translating/migrating configuration
data, but at least a considerable part of this could be automated. It
could even be in the form of an external executable so that a user of
any older version could migrate to the new one at any time. The new
version of the configuration was organized differently, much better
   than the previous one.
N.B.: Please understand that I do not wish to play down the author
with my statements. Freeware developers are not very likely to do
extra work just for it. If donations were more frequent, I might
   still use FreeCommander.

Yes! I use it in a daily basis. I thought about talking about this
feature, but the best and most direct thing is to point out the link
   to the official description.
   https://doublecmd.github.io/doc/en/syncdirs.html

Double Commander also has some minor issues, many of which have been
fixed. One that was often mentioned was a slight delay in response to
some commands. It allows you to configure programs and/or documents
that you use frequently, such as on the Desktop, arranged as icons on
the taskbar that can be broken down into menus, submenus, etc. It
uses XML architecture to store this information and settings, and
sometimes retrieving this data can seem a bit slow. Well, my laptop
is already among the very old ones...

   Hope it helps. :)
