   No, you don't need to pay, all the tools needed are free and available   
   if you look for them.   
      
   For normal daily Internet I just use the built in anonymous feature in   
   Startpage and I use DNS over HTTPS via QUAD9.   
      
   Startpage claims it's anonymous but I'm not so sure about that but its   
   at least a VPN which hides your ISP address and keeps my provider from   
   getting too "curious".
