At that time, dual booting made the most sense for me. I       needed to keep a hand in Win all the way into XP to help my friends.              I was never a WINE fan; for me it was 'better' or more practical or       'suited my situation' better to use multiple machines rather than dual       booting. My approach was a KVM switch; where the KVM stands for keyboard       video mouse. Two desktop computers, one keyboard-mouse-monitor-switch;       linux installed on one, some Win on the other. I could continue to have       access to either linux or Win desktop by flipping the switch which takes       keyboard key-combo.              The greatest extent of that arrangement was to have 4 desktops, two kvm       switches and stations so from one seat I could 'rotate' to the 4 systems       usually less, from 3 to 2. The arrangements are different now, but I       still commonly have two different systems up; sometimes an old Win and       LM, sometimes LM and another live distro.              Just for the sake of the group topic; one of the reasons I work in W7 a       little bit every day is because it is more convenient for me to use the       freeware IrfanView and because for the miniscule amount of printing I       do, I would rather use Win freeware and drivers, because it is so easy       to do and 'better' w/ a familiar and capable interface. I *can* print w/       linux using cups, but I prefer Win's.              --       Mike Easter              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
