   i don't see any real difference in the preformance of our last batch of   
   presidents. while things looked good under clinton, alot of chicanery was   
   allowed to keep appearances up and an over extended stock market soaring.   
   nafta was perhaps the 1st solid nail in the u.s. economy. when greenspan   
   warned us about irrational exuberence there was much more to it than the   
   market had climbed too fast, too far. i believe most of carter's fiscal   
   problems were foisted on him by history (debt from v.n. war) and bad luck   
   (oil embargo). reagan was sinister, as was bush. i doubt we'll survive to   
   ever get the truth about the last 30 odd years of events and the motivations   
   behind them. but it would be a fasinating, if not depressing, read
