XPost: alt.conspiracy.new-world-order, alt.america       From: knock@the.door              > You sound like some bicycle riding europeon peasant.       > I enjoy driving my pick up truck.       > I enjoy riding my motorcycle.       > I really enjoy living the good life in a thriving economy.       > Life is good.       >       >       >       > Jim E              Life is good.       For many people the world over, life is very, very good.       Perhaps especially the bicycle-riding european peasants.       As a race, humanity has rarely (if ever) enjoyed such stability, wealth,       ease of living, and lack of war.              However let me ask you this:       Do you care whether you children share in your enjoyment of life?       Do you want your grand children and their grand children living like they do       in a third world nation, taking up weapons to mug, steal, rape, maim and       kill purely to survive in an overpopulated world where the majority of the       cities (and all the high-life and culture and industry that currently       support your enjoyable lifestyle, and manufacture your pickup truck and fuel       your motorcycle and engineer your current thriving economy) are flooded and       beneath 10 or 20 meters of sea water?              Do you want them to have to abandon even the concept of education and career       and entertainment to fight invading nations that have cities still above the       new sea-level, and larger and more sturdy economies and can finally take out       their decades-old fear and mistrust of American culture out by invading a       now weaker economy?              Do you want them to hear stories about Hawaii and have a similar wonder and       scoffing doubt that it ever existed that you have about Atlantis?              Because unless we stop looking about and thinking "naw it's fine right here"       and look ahead and recognise what's coming, then the picture I paint is only       the tip of the ice-berg.              Global warming will be followed by a new ice-age. Look it up; it's the       Earth's natural balancing act.       There is exactly no way that your economy, our economy, or even society as a       whole as it stands now can even remotely survive an ice-age. We will       literally be reduced to savages in caves. Again. Glaciers simply cannot be       stopped. They smash and scrub clean bedrock as effectively as your pickup       can plow through long grass. This is not fantasy, this is cold hard reality,       and we have a great deal of scientific evidence that demonstrates the danger       we face and all of it's implications. Only those that have abandoned       science, education, and fact, can possibly doubt this.              It's not about whether life is good or not.              If we wait until your decendants turn around and say "My grand-pappy used to       drive a pickup truck and thought life was good" and everyone around them       thinks they're describing a king with untold riches, then we're all in       biiiiiig trouble.              - Chris              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
