XPost: alt.rec.guns, alt.conspiracy, alt.law-enforcement       XPost: can.talk.guns, alt.guns, alt.politics.usa.constitution.gun-rights       XPost: alt.conspiracy.new-world-order, can.rec.hunting       From: ptkeske@comcast.net              > Any rational human being should be able to clearly see       > that it was the lack of defensive capability on the       > part of his victims that allowed yet another madman to       > kill and injure so many.       >              Any rational human being should be able to see clearly       what a ridiculous, nauseating load of bull the       above argument is.              Gun control is ineffective if it is only the Virginia Tech       campus that is trying to limit gun availability, and not       the state of Virginia, and not the United States of America.              If you had a nation ban of gun manufacturing, other       than for limited purposes of police, military, and       controlled settings of sanctioned ranges and       hunting reservations, then gun control would       be dramatically more effective.              A would-be gunman could never become a gunman,       by definition, if he were unable to obtain a gun.              It is an absurd picture, to think of dozens of students       carrying guns in their purses, backpacks, gym bags,       and briefcases. God, couldn't we all feel a rosy glow       of assurance, to know that nearly everyone in the       room is packing a piece?              Anyone who seriously thinks so is probably one       of those possibily-unbalanced sorts who ought       to referred for counseling if not locked away.              Local bans, limited bans are ineffective. A national       ban would all but stop this kind of nonsense, cold.              The gun lobby is shameless to try to exploit this       tragedy to pursue its own ideologically-driven fetish.       The GOP is shameless to have pandered so completely       to this lobby, just because it is aggressive and because       it has money. Gun lobby money could truly be       called "blood money".              Tom Keske              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
