The removal of guns (and other arms) from law-abiding citizens, even
in an effort to remove them from those who are not, have often had
unintended consequences through out the history of man.

There is normally a quote about gun laws & gun registration attributed
to Hitler, but it is a jumbled up mess. However it does have some
basis in truth in that the gun laws adopted by the Weimar Republic
were intended to disarm both the Nazis and Communists who were seen as
a threat against the Republic, but they were sufficiently
discretionary enough that the Nazis managed to use them against the
original drafters of the laws (i.e. their enemies) once they were in
   power.

In other words, even gun laws didn't keep the Nazis from arming &
coming to power. They also didn't need to pass additional gun laws to
keep power once they seized it, is they simply used the ones already
in place intended to keep them from gaining power to control others.

However, once in power the Nazis did pass a revised weapons law in
1938, but that only added more restrictions to the previous law,
especially for Jews and other "non-citizens" so they were unable to
effectively fight back as the "Final Solution" was developed &
   implemented.

Just remember that if you vote to disarm me in an effort to keep me
out of power or dependent on the powers to be, I'll just use those
very same laws against you when & if I come to power.

All in all it is never about guns, it is about power -- and of course
   keeping it.
