If he's at Mercury, surely       GROOM is not "in sight". What is the term       "field in sight"? I always assumed that meant       "I can see the field I'm about to land at".       But he's at 14k. That seems consistant with       him being at Mercury.              And then just to spice it up, the pilot asks       if he can proceed "direct to where ABBIE's gonna be"              He's given permission to PLANET to ABBIE.              Later STING 12 is "Overhead that place" [sounds       like at ABBIE] and goes into standard left base       for RWY 32.              I'm not a pilot. I understand a little about       approaches. If he's in "standard left base" for       RWY 32, doesn't that mean he's perpindicular to       the runway?              And so if he's overhead at ABBIE and on a standard       left base for 32, would that put him somewhere like       papoose lake?                     > I did do a little looking on Google Earth at what I think is about the       > Beatty 060030 point. The towers       seem perhaps TOO tall for an NDB. That tower       site is within the 4808 airspace.              Here's another installation of some kind,       also within 4808       Lookout Peak at       36 51 20.08n,116 10 04.78w       Look due south from the building,       about 120 yds, on one of the       smaller roads. White, vehicle       sized(?) object on the road.       Maybe a rock. But it appears       to be right on the roadway.                     Lumpy       --       In Your Ears for 40 Years       http://www.lumpymusic.com              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
