   I don't do any IRLP. But I hear guys doing it   
   all the time on VHF and UHF. It's as simple as   
   five keypad strokes on your radio #XXXX where   
   (pound XXXX) where XXXX is the number of the   
   repeater you want to link to. Then you talk   
   just like it was next door to whoever you like   
   at the "foreign" station as well as the local   
   repeater stations. Then when you're finished   
   I think you hit "*" to disconnect. The   
   usual canned voice responses guide you through   
   "LINK ESTABLISHED" etc.   
      
   I hear guys all the time talking between LA   
   and Phoenix, Tucson and Phoenix, Denver and   
   Phoenix etc.   
      
   You could hit the Tonopah machine with your   
   1w HT, link to an autopatch somewhere, phone   
   Art Bell and tell him you were in an ultralight   
   over the NTS and about to be shot down.
