Or is the design consistant with simply       being strong enough to support itself and a       relatively small added weight?              The former would suggest tanks, pumps etc.              The latter would suggest antennas of some kind       (radio, radar, light, whatever).              ie is it a building or is it a tower to support something?              In other words, look at any typical antenna       tower for commercial or amateur use. It supports       an antenna (or several) that weigh essentially       nothing, and perhaps present some wind resistance.       It's typically triangular, as this thing is, but       typically MUCH much smaller, even for very very tall towers.              So if it is some kind of antenna structure, even       with relatively heavy antennas (several radar,       with associated transceivers etc), then "where       is it looking"? That question is probably addressed       well by miso's calculations. Just the idea that it's       located down in the valley suggests that if it is       some kind of antenna, it's meant for just the base       as it's target.              OTOH, if it's some kind of tank/pump/well, it's       hard to imagine what it might hold that they'd       have to build such a weird structure for. Some       kind of super hot fuel for Lazar's latest       beta craft? Seems too close to human areas,       and too far from aircraft areas, for that.       No retaining berm.              If it were some kind of human observation tower,       I'd think it would be round.              I would not dismiss the idea of tether station/elevator       for some kind of lighter than air craft (blimps, zeps, etc).              Estimate the dimensions of the sides of the triangle.       Skip the height for now. Sides roughly 30 ft.       Perhaps just about right for a "freight elevator"       that could transport several crew and support persons       and their instruments/equipment as well as (re)supply the       craft with food/water/weapons/equipment.              I haven't really looked lately. Is there an       extraordinary amount of power lines       running to the thing?                     Lumpy              In Your Ears for 40 Something Years        www.LumpyMusic.com              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
