   One of the oldest tricks in the book is to phone   
   or in some other way notify the   
   the drug house and "tip them off" to the cops   
   about to make a raid. Bad guys flush the dope   
   or run or both. Either way, it's safer for the   
   cops. If they flush it, they lose a bunch of   
   product. Lose enough and the guys up the   
   ladder take care of the situation.
