   I dont think it would have made a difference (except to those who have a   
   really strong view on that particular crime, ie if drink driving, a person   
   who had lost a relative). If I had been caught/convicted of the offence   
   within a few days of the election, then yes it would have had an impact, as   
   the publicity would be huge.

   Of course, in elections, all sense is thrown out of the window, and you try   
   to make as much out of anything as you can. Still is nothing though.   
      
   I have to say, twenty years ago, been caught drink driving, was aking to   
   been caught speeding, both here and the US
