   elected to that office.   
      
   When was the last time a convicted criminal was appointed to the UK   
   cabinet?   
      
   (I don't mean any of the many crimes that such types commit and get away   
   with - I mean an official criminal conviction in a court, already on   
   their record at the time they were appointed).
