   I'd always understood the French left's excuse for May 1968 amounting to   
   very little in the long run was that, for whatever reason, the workers   
   didn't -- with some exceptions, notably a couple of car plants IIRC --   
   get involved.   
      
   If, however, you're telling me that the French workers did, in fact,   
   join in en masse but the phenomenon of French workers *not*, in fact,   
   working has very little effect on the world in general or France in   
   particular, what with them being French so few people could tell the   
   difference, I'm perfectly prepared to believe it.
