   They will not need people. That is what makes it scary. Until recently,   
   the thing that prevented mass surveilance and correlation of the available   
   data (be it audio video or straightforward digital records) has been that   
   the data dwarfed affordable computing and manpower.   
      
   Now that computer methodology (hardware and software) has caught up to the   
   point at which video footage can be converted to a map of a person's   
   motion and telelphone conversations may be automatically transcribed,   
   there is no reason why our every action (and very nearly our every   
   thought) should not be processed, recorded and analysed. There are many   
   who would like this, and the preparation of the public (in the UK at   
   least) has seriously begun.
