XPost: uk.politics.misc, uk.people.health, uk.current-events.general       From: banana@REMOVE_THIS.borve.demon.co.uk              In article <1138196237.957070.20770@g14g2000cwa.googlegroups.com>,       eddie_wood@hotmail.com writes       >They brought in a "Business Manager" for each department at my place.       >One Business Manager for each department, regardless of the size.       >These guys were non-clinical no hopers who failed to find their own way       >in the commercial world and really didn't have a clue.       >       >Yup, you guessed it. We had departments of one person complete with       >it's own highly paid Business Manager to "manage" it.       >       >Oh happy days...              Did they 'manage' policies to contest the 'under-funding' and       'under-staffing'?              It's all bollocks. A friend of mine recently attended a casualty ward.       She was stitched up competently by a nurse. But then, according to 'the       rule', she had to be seen by a quack. The quack came and could hardly       fucking speak English! She could just about read out five points on a       piece of card she was holding, and that was it.              No way could she read an academic article written in English - you know,       the way people have to do when they study for real doctorates.              Then they gave my friend another piece of card which supposedly told her       how to look after herself, but also had a large advert for a solicitor       on the back. The solicitor had paid for the cards to be printed, on the       understanding that he would never take any work against the hospital,       and would inform them if anyone came to him asking him to do so.              Then when my friend went back to have her stitches taken out, she had to       wait 90 minutes. They kept trying to get her to stand near a bed that       was out of the way, so that neither they, nor any other patients, would       have to watch her waiting. All this time, 4 or 5 of them were sitting       around a computer doing fuck-all.              Then when they took her stitches out, the nurse who did so just moaned       the whole fucking time that the person who'd put the stitches in hadn't       left long enough ends to the stitches. She literally moaned the whole of       the time. Then when my friend left, she tried to catch the nurse's eye       to say 'thank you', and the nurse wouldn't even return her glance.              Tell me what tinkering 'gradual reform' of the system is going to make       anything any better.              Britain? Shittain, more like.              --       banana "The thing I hate about you, Rowntree, is the way you        give Coca-Cola to your scum, and your best teddy-bear to        Oxfam, and expect us to lick your frigid fingers for the        rest of your frigid life."
