   Consider how things went in America not in the 1930s but in the 1980s,   
   e.g. quintupling of prison population, and the containing of part of the   
   working class in areas where the majority of men are either in prison or   
   on probation, doing forced 'community' work, etc., with very poor health   
   and very low life expectancy and living under constant threat of   
   anti-social violence. (Not by accident to Blair's speechwriters get him   
   to refer to Hobbes, as well as the 'theorists of the Roman State', as   
   his heroes). Those who own the UK authorities are strongly committed to   
   social engineering (- this comes out even in their documents full of   
   crap-speak - and the bastards have already had a lot of success in this.
