Do you think the senior cops, interior ministry officials, and British
'diplomats' (and people from all those categories were in the tunnel -
this isn't hypothetical) allowed a free-for-all photoshoot all the time
until she was put into the ambulance?

Such a place as a road tunnel is a very useful place to cause such a
crash. What does need to be explained is why the operation was carried
out in Paris, which would obviously NOT be the place of preference for
such a Brit operation. Much has been reported of course about the
impending engagement announcement. See stuff on the Dis-Me-Oui (Tell Me
Yes) engagement ring that Dodi Fayed picked up that afternoon. You can
be sure that they will have left false trails, they will have hidden
intentions, etc., from eager spooks (and 'journalists' working for such
spooks, e.g. 'Taki' Theodorocopulos), not just that day but over the
preceding several weeks. In this context it is easy to imagine the
decision by the enemy to the effect of 'it's got to be now, in Paris,
never mind the problems of location - we'll sort them out afterwards'.

MI6 can put a death squad in Paris within a few hours, no problem. (The
SAS - which along with the SBS supplies personnel for MI6 jobs under the
name 'Increment' - can put a team anywhere in the WORLD within 12
   hours).
