   Of course the 'gift' wasn't 'from' Berlusconi he got someone else to pay it   
   - she resorting to sophistry.   
      
   If she signed the mortgage, I don't see it as any different than signing a   
   statement for the police. A mortgage has legal implications IIRC a false   
   declaration is an offence.
