      XPost: uk.politics.misc, alt.politics.british, alt.conspiracy       XPost: alt.conspiracy.new-world-order, alt.america, alt.conspira       y.america-at-war       XPost: us.politics       From: oO@oO.com              Cuban medical team services in quake-torn areas lauded       ISLAMABAD: Islamabad lauded the Cuban government for extending every       cooperation with special reference sending medical team to treat       quake-survivors in devastated quake-ravaged areas.              This was stated by Asma Fatma, representative of Foreign Office here at a       farewell ceremony arranged for the second batch of 126 Cuban doctors who are       going back to Cuba on Sunday (today).              The Foreign Office representative appreciated the Cuban government for       providing medical support to the earthquake survivors.              She further said that the people of earthquake-hit areas will remember the       services of the Cuban doctors forever.              The colorful ceremony was attended by Foreign Office representative, Asma       Fatma, Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, Cuban First Deputy Minister of Foreign       Affairs, Cuban Charge d' Affairs and ambassador designate to Pakistan, Ivan       Mora Godoy and Juan Carlos Dupuy Nuņez, Chief of the Cuban Medical.              Addressing on the occasion, Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla said, "The weather was       harsh and our team faced problems but they provided services to ailing       community with commitment."              He said that the departing team is happy but at the same time they are sad       as they have made friends here and they will remember them for a long time       to come.              "The Cuban government will train Pakistani doctors who will replace the       Cuban doctors to use the equipments and hospitals in the earthquake-hit       areas set up by the Cubans as they are going back in phases but will leave       the field hospitals and equipments behind", the minister informed.              He added that the state of the art equipments brought from Cuba will remain       here which will used by the Pakistani government.              Besides this the Cuban government has also announced 1000 scholarships for       Pakistanis mainly in the health sector and formal proposal to the government       has been sent to the government in this regard, he informed.              "Cuba has advanced health set up and 2823 doctors and paramedics are working       in 70 countries of the world", she said and added that the Pakistani doctors       after getting scholarships will get state of the art training in our       country.              Giving details of the Cuban health sector, he said that more that 30000       students from Asia Latin America and Asia are studying medicines in       different Cuban universities.              The minister further said the Cuban government will take more patients for       advance treatment from earthquake-hit areas to Cuba.              He said that we have already taken 14 patients along with one attendant each       to Cuba and they are getting modern treatment there and it is hoped that       they will come back fully recovered.              During the farewell ceremony two doctors presented a Cuban song which       enthralled the participants.              It is pertinent to mention here that the first group of Cuban doctors       arrived in Pakistan on October 14. This group has been working in the       earthquake-hit areas of NWFP and Azad Kashmir. They have set up 39 hospitals       in these areas and providing modern health care to the survivors of the       earthquake.              The first batch of 78 doctors and paramedics left Pakistan for Cuba a week       ago and the Pakistan government hosted a farewell in their honor and highly       appreciated their services. One Cuban doctor also died in the quake-hit       areas along with Pakistani doctors.              So far the Cuban doctors have assisted 1 million patients and conducted 7790       operations.              The Cuban government has donated more than 100 tons of medicines, surgical       instruments and material more than 150 tons of medical and hospitals       equipments.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
