|    New Labour again defeated in Ebbw Vale /    |

XPost: uk.politics.misc, uk.politics.parliament, uk.current-events.general       XPost: wales.politics.general, uk.politics.electoral       From: banana@REMOVE_THIS.borve.demon.co.uk              New Labour again get defeated in Ebbw Vale, or Blaenau Gwent as the       rejigged constituency is called.              Ebbw Vale was once the best-known parliamentary constituency in the UK,       and the safest seat of all, for any party.              The BBC are reporting this on the same level as the fact that the       Liberals came a close second in Bromley!! They're also introducing their       propaganda reports with the fact that American Labour, sorry, New       Labour, tried to impose a woman candidate in last year's general       election...as if her sex was of any relevance whatsoever.              Leaving aside one's hatred for parliamentary democracy, and all the dirt       one could mention about Aneurin Bevan or Michael Foot, or about the       bosses' party called 'Old Labour' generally, and leaving aside one's       happiness at the fall in turnout to around 50%...              ...it has nonetheless got to be noted that there is a tradition in the       Valleys among working class people that the MP is actually supposed to       'represent' them...and I can't help but say it's a good thing to watch       the New Labour war-party filth bite the dust a second time.              I was surprised to see that Ladbrokes bookmakers made the New Labour       candidate the favourite, even though it was obvious the Independent       candidate Dai Davies would win. Maybe some of the PR spend went on       influencing the betting market??              New Labour did actually try to win the seat back, which makes it even       better that they failed. The PR line that 'we apologise' and 'our       candidate's very independent, you know', didn't cut any ice with people       who are not the stupid idiots that the New Labour brand managers took       them for.              Compare Bromley, where there was little point in New Labour campaigning       much, because even if they said they wanted to whip single mothers in       the street, most people would still vote Tory or Liberal.              New Labour lost because their 'Third Way' marketing crap and their       disgusting, Tory, pro-American, far-right brand DOESN'T MEAN SHIT IN THE       VALLEYS.              --       banana "The thing I hate about you, Rowntree, is the way you        give Coca-Cola to your scum, and your best teddy-bear to        Oxfam, and expect us to lick your frigid fingers for the        rest of your frigid life."
