I've snipped the advertising from your sig.

Manufacturers MLS say, on the record, that 2500+ schools in the UK have
installed their 'Identikit' fingerprinting technology. ('Identikit' is a
'module' that goes together with their library management software. It
uses fingerprinting. Other modules don't). There are other manufacturers
too, selling schools fingerprinting technology for non-library uses -
   e.g. Anteon.

I'm told that Bob Roberts got the 3500 figure from the manufacturers. I
think this is probably true, given that MLS alone account for the larger
part of that figure. Installation, however, is different from sale; so
   is delivery.

I am doing various things to chase the figures.

Give him his due - he sources the 700,000 figure to (reasonable)
   speculation by No2ID. 700,000 = 3500 x 200.

If you know of a school that has or hasn't installed fingerprinting
technology, and could name them, I'd be interested.

That tabloid articles are written in a tabloid style seems to me to be
   irrelevant here.
