From: ron_winn@lineone.net              After 10 years since the crash it suddenly occurred to me how precise the       crash was. Accidents should be messy but in the confines of the tunnel to       hit a pillar, let alone the 13th one in line, needed a precise maneuver. I       have always been sceptical of the geometary. It's the narrow width of the       tunnel where precision was required. The scepticism over the geometry       [whether it was indeed possible or not] could be answered by the precision       of the driver. Where to be in the tunnel, when to steer of course, and how       much speed could be applied were all things within the knowledge of the       driver. The Merc was almost center when it hit the pillar [slightly off to       the left] and that would be depend on the driver.              An accident might have sent the car through the pillars. The front near side       or off side might have hit the pillar and started a spin all over the place       and the Merc might have ended up smashed up on all sides. Yet the damage was       limited to the front.              Yes, it was very precise. Did the driver just aim for the pillar. He did       have a cocktail of drugs in his blood stream one of which should not have       been prescribed to him. He was allegedly, taking a drug to ease alcoholism       and we all know that alcohol should not be taken with drugs. If he was off       alcohol then there was still a risk in prescribing the other drug he       allegedly was taking.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
