   I would say, set killfilters and don't let the bullshit get you down, but   
   there is no denying that the garbage posts deter good posters from saying   
   anything. (And this group only needs one-third the filtering of another   
   group I read.)   
      
   I don't know if things will get better when the children are back in   
   school, or if it's an irreversible trend. Some people are turning to   
   web-site-based groups and email lists like Yahoo groups, but they're more   
   difficult to find and use than Usenet.   
      
   That's not really an answer, because I don't know a good answer.
