Past-life amnesia is a very perplexing thing. It would seem to be
beneficial to be fully aware of what you've been through in the past.
However, in practice it seems to be much more advantageous to be able to
concentrate on the present, and not get involved in things that have gone
   before.

I have had a very brief flash of memory of a past life, and the devastating
emotion over what happened then took me a long time to deal with. Then
comes dealing with the _differences_ between the past life and this. For
one thing, it's very difficult to not want to live that life over, and fix
   what went wrong.

Past-life amnesia is not the same as oblivion. The subconscious mind does
retain all the memories, and they do manifest themselves in your life, as
phobias, strong attractions, "instinctual" knowledge, and such.
