   Don't worry, he'll mess about in his post-mortem delusions until he's   
   really bored, and then he'll break out of that crap and start to learn   
   what's what.  I think we've all gone through this stage more than once   
   and maybe we get to do it more times before we're out of the woods of   
   instructive fantasy.  I think it's fine to let him help himself in due   
   course (no one knows better than he does just what he needs to break   
   out of his personal hell) without worrying about it unduly.
