   I'd not rush to a psychiatrist, since you mention medication for   
   schizophrenia, which suggests that you've already got that stream of   
   inquiry going.  Have you tried any of the disciplines of the far east,   
   just for the quieting and focusing effects on the mind?  I've found Zen   
   meditation (with a leader of a group seshin, at least at first)   
   settleing to the unruly mind.  Gaining a bit of control might be a   
   useful way of approaching consideration of what's real here and what's   
   just the antics of the monkey-mind, normal, abnormal, or doped up.   
      
   Just a thought, and I hope you find some approach that not only comforts   
   you but helps you sort it all out to your own satisfaction (nobody   
   else's satisfaction counts in a matter like this).
