   I'm glad you also realized that the comment is a result of the journey you   
   described. It is a confidence arrived at after a long trip through   
   self-doubt and self-testing, and with a lot of help and support from   
   others. Correlating and weighing the evidence, and trusting that other   
   people can be experts on their own experiences, too, is the work that's   
   involved.   
      
   Saying the same thing to a group of evangelistic disbelievers would   
   probably elicit the response that I just wrapped myself up in my   
   imagination. They don't seem to realize that "It's just imagination" is   
   only one of the two signposts at the very beginning of the journey, and   
   that the one that says "It is real" marks the far more interesting,   
   stimulating, and liberating path.
