   Those are always the best ones -- when it comes out of left field,   
   and the experiencer clearly doesn't know what hit him or her,   
   and is still mulling it over. That feels like something convincing   
   to me. My interp. of the "existences", for what it's worth (not a   
   damn thing, actually, but why let that stop us?) would be that you   
   encountered souls doing their between-lives work, not incarnate   
   at the moment, so you saw them in their true form -- and someone   
   there might well have been, in a previous life, very close to you.
