   Whether aliens are buzzing the globe or grunting, shitting   
   in their hands and throwing it at each other, the way we   
   will find them is through spectral analysis. We will detect   
   the Biosignatures and/or Technosignatures in their atmosphere   
   from a very great distance.   
      
   Pretending that little green men are here, buzzing the earth,   
   probing the bums of hapless victims stolen from their beds   
   as they sleep -- they're hiding. They don't want us "To   
   know" that they're here. They shower us with plausible   
   deniability. So we can't find them, many have tried, but they   
   can't hide their planet!   
      
   Nope.   
      
   So all we've got to do is point a James Webb or similar tech   
   at their world, perform a spectral analysis & identify it as   
   the home & haunt of *Aliens!*

   Life on earth has been detectable for BILLIONS of years. The   
   fact of our industrialization has been detectable for more   
   than a century. So if aliens are within 100 light years of   
   us and are AT LEAST our level of technology, they know that   
   we're here. You assume that they sat on that knowledge, I   
   assume they'd immediately leap to that next step.
