XPost: alt.idiots, alt.politics.socialism.democratic, alt.fan.rush-limbaugh       XPost: talk.politics.guns, sac.politics       From: leroysoetoro@americans-first.com              https://ktla.com/news/politics/inside-california-politics/political-       commentators-becerra-should-have-been-more-skeptical-of-campaign-fund-       payments/              (INSIDE CALIFORNIA POLITICS) — Political commentators Andrew Acosta and       Tim Rosales joined Inside California Politics’ Nikki Laurenzo to discuss a       corruption case surrounding former high-level advisors to Gov. Gavin       Newsom and former Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra.              On Wednesday, Dana Williamson, who served as chief of staff to Newsom for       two years, was indicted in a conspiracy to transfer some of Becerra’s       campaign funds to Sean McCluskie, who worked as chief of staff to Becerra.              According to the U.S. Department of Justice, McCluskie, Williamson and       three others charged the dormant campaign account $7,500 a month,       ostensibly for work done managing it, and used it and other funds to put       McCluskie’s wife on the payroll of a company for which she did not       actually work.              In an exclusive one-on-one interview on Saturday, Becerra told Laurenzo       that he believed that was the going rate for that service.              Acosta and Rosales both seemed to agree that someone with as much       experience as Becerra should have been more skeptical of the situation.               “For someone who has as much experience as he has, it’s a little       concerning, you know, that a dormant account was paying somebody $10,000 a       month to do nothing,” Acosta, a democrat, said. “So, for me, as someone       who’s done this for a long time and worked with a lot of first-time       candidates and tried to walk them through how the process works, there’s a       lot of questions they would ask me about ‘Why is the treasurer charging       this and that?’ For someone with that much experience who’s not running       for governor to not have, you know, more to have a better idea of where       the money’s going is a little, it’s concerning.”              Rosales, a Republican, said Newsom needed to be open about what he knew       about the case.              “I’ve got to give Xavier Becerra a little bit of credit for coming out and       kind of facing, you know, these questions and doing that. I think that’s       not something I would expect to see from Governor Newsom,” Rosales said.       “…He should step forward proactively and answer some questions in terms of       what his engagement was, or very similar to what Xavier Becerra answered,       because he is a governor of the state of California, and he is looking to       run for the highest office in the land, for president.”              As for the case’s effect on Becerra’s campaign for governor, Acosta said       it was an unfortunate way for voters to get to know his name but that he       wasn’t alone.              “You know, the problem with both Becerra and Porter now, they’ve come on       [Inside California Politics] to defend, you know, missteps, and that’s how       they’re being introduced, Acosta said. “That’s not how you want to run a       governor’s race, by, you know, starting out on defense. You want to start       on offense. So I think a, you know, Caruso or maybe even a Tom Steyer can       come in and use something like to take on part of it. It’s not going to be       the thing. I don’t know if this is going to matter in six months.”                     --       November 5, 2024 - Congratulations President Donald Trump. We look       forward to America being great again.              We live in a time where intelligent people are being silenced so that       stupid people won't be offended.              Every day is an IQ test. Some pass, some, not so much.              Thank you for cleaning up the disasters of the 2008-2017, 2020-2024 Obama       / Biden / Harris fiascos, President Trump.              Under Barack Obama's leadership, the United States of America became the       The World According To Garp. Obama sold out heterosexuals for Hollywood       queer liberal democrat donors.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
