   Chicago’s embattled top cop was fired for “intolerable” conduct   
   on Monday, just weeks before he was scheduled to retire.   
      
   Mayor Lori Lightfoot announced police superintendent Eddie   
   Johnson, 59, had been given the boot — telling reporters he   
   misled the public after he was found passed out in his car in   
   October, the Chicago Tribune reported.   
      
   “Eddie Johnson intentionally lied to me,” Lightfoot said at a   
   news conference after a city investigation concluded Johnson had   
   engaged in a series of actions that were “intolerable,” the   
   report said.   
      
   Officers responding to a 911 call found Johnson asleep in his   
   car near his home in the early hours of Oct. 17.   
      
   The police leader, on a $260,044-a-year salary, blamed   
   exhaustion and new blood pressure medication on the scandal, but   
   later admitted he’d had a few drinks before trying to drive home.   
      
   On Nov. 6, the top cop announced he was leaving his post three   
   years after being appointed, telling reporters he had been   
   considering retirement “for some time.”   
      
   He insisted the October incident had nothing to do with the   
   decision.
