|    Lisa Murkowski 'Cheated' by Trump Action    |

XPost: alt.politics.trump, sac.politics, alt.fan.rush-limbaugh       XPost: talk.politics.guns, or.politics       From: deinazis@4imprint.com              Here in the Great Land, Alaska Republicans have been alternatively       confused and frustrated by Princess Lisa Murkowski ever since her father       awarded her the Senate seat like a feudal title. Oh, Princess Lisa       appeals to some squishy Republicans, as well as Anchorage and Juneau       Democrats who are aware that it's a taller order to try to get a       Democrat elected to the Senate in Alaska these days. But plenty of us,       more conservative types, have watched her career with annoyance and       chagrin.              Case in point: Now, Princess Lisa is bemoaning the loss of subsidies for       wind and solar power installations, even though she voted for the One       Big Beautiful Bill on the notion that more U.S. taxpayer cash would be       poured into Alaska "renewables."              Sen. Lisa Murkowski said she feels “cheated” after she won a concession       in the recently passed tax and spending law to protect wind and solar       projects, only to see the president and his administration issue recent       orders that she said seem designed to quickly quash such projects.              “I feel cheated,” she said in an interview Friday. “I feel like we made       a deal and then hours later, a deal was made to somebody else.”              Yes, Princess Lisa, a deal was made to the United States taxpayers; it's       called "an election," and President Trump in particular ran on ending       this kind of wasteful horse squeeze. And it's not like Princess Lisa       didn't manage to squeeze out some other concessions:              Murkowski said there were plenty of wins for Alaska in the megabill       signed into law by President Donald Trump on July 4. Those include a new       royalty sharing mechanism that in eight years is meant to start giving       Alaska lots of revenue from oil production on federal lands.              While the megabill took steps to cut support for solar and wind       projects, Murkowski managed to negotiate a measure to protect a 12-month       window for the projects to receive tax credits, despite efforts by some       Republicans to immediately eliminate them.              Frankly, they should have been immediately eliminated.              Read More: Lisa Murkowski Wrote a Book, Now She's Getting Slammed in       Reviews              Friends No More? Mary Peltola Jabs Lisa Murkowski Over Vote for OBBB              And why, of all places, should Alaska receive 12 months of these payouts       beyond what the rest of the country gets? Because, we suppose, Princess       Lisa was amenable to a deal in this in return for her vote in what was,       to be fair, a real nail-biter. That's how the sausage factory works,       after all.              But seriously, wind and solar? Alaska isn't the ideal place for these       boondoggles. Some people are living off-grid up here - I don't know, but       I suspect, that Alaska has a higher percentage of residents off-grid       than any other state. A lot of these folks depend on alternatives. We       have some friends, a younger couple with two small boys, who live off       the grid. They do have cellular phone coverage, and they rely on solar       power in summer, and diesel generators and batteries in the winter.              People like this, though, are the exception, not the rule. And in any       case, it's not on the taxpayers to subsidize these installations;       markets, not governments, should make these decisions.              Princess Lisa probably thinks that, by pushing for things like this,       she's bringing home the bacon. In fact, all she's doing is packing on       the pork. Enough is enough.              https://redstate.com/wardclark/2025/07/20/lisa-murkowski-cheated-by-trump       -actions-on-wind-solar-n2191879              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
