oi, you still don't quote the source post.

An essay on Cyberpunk would be fine. An essay on Cyberpunk through
different periods of time might even be interesting. I think you will be
making a mistake by differentiating them from each other as much as you
do. Steampunk is simply a short way of saying Victorian-Age Cyberpunk.
Taken in that light, what you're doing is fine, and worth participating
   in.

But stating that Steampunk is not the same as Cyberpunk is, in my
opinion, a mistake. Steampunk is simply Cyberpunk in a different
setting. It's not it's own beast.

There are several ways you can take that work of writing. One would be
to mistakenly attempt to seperate the concepts of
   Steam/Cyber/Clockwork/Gene/Bio/Nano/Whatever-Punk. Another would be to
use them as short term to explore the Cyberpunk Style that came to
fruitation in the 80s and even early 90s through the different time
   periods and settings.

Cyberpunk is as much attitude as it is chrome. You get the right feeling
in any setting and you can make a good Cyberpunk-Style story.

Cyberpunk is the constant feeling of Futureshock, Cultureshock and
Technoshock. All of which can be applied to any point in time.

[as for the insipid little "don't judge, be judged" ... who's judging if
no one is supposed to judge. Shove that up your ass.]
