Or perhaps we merely have snapshots of a genre within certain time
periods. Certainly within the venue of 1984 the Cyberpunk Genre has no
changed. 1984 Cyberpunk will always be 1984 Cyberpunk, it will never be
1996 Cyberpunk and likewise... the whole of the genre of Cyberpunk will
have changed from 1984 to 1996, sure.

As long as you constrain yourself to the idea that a genre is a finite
thing contained completely within minute boundries then sure it will
   never change.

If the consumers and contributors change, then the genre would naturally
follow them along with it. Does that change previous incarnations of the
genre? No, it merely places them within a certain time frame.
