   Damn straight it was. Thanks!

I just watched a scanner darkly.

I can't believe how wrong it went. It was even more dull than Pattern
Recognition. Did Linklater make a conscious decision to eschew drama
altogether? I know PKD doesn't really do revelation type 'twist'
moments, but it doesn't matter so much in the texts because the
potential twists tend to get buried in increasingly intense rambling
prose which I personally enjoy. In the film though it was just so slow
and UN-intense. If it was a conscious decision by Linklater then at
least I understand what he was going for; maybe trying to dodge the
traps the no-brainer adaptations of PKD usually fall into. But god damn
it, his solution made for tiresome viewing.

And all that slick tech, and that nineties suburbia thing, it was so un
PKD. I don't think PKD should be "updated"; he was anachronistic in his
own time, I feel that it is part of his twisted shtick.

It felt a bit weird reading PKD's obits at the end, given that the film
was so flippant with the source material.

   And the music was terrible.

Rider had a couple of passable moments, but I didn't like how they PC'd
her character (compared to the novel). Some PKD stories have a
""misogynistic"" take on women, its part of the horror of their worlds
and if PKD had been a heterosexual woman these characters would have
been flaky neurotic whirlwind men. I don't think PKD's women need
   'fixing'.

RDJ was just a moron in stupid clothes. As has been said before here,
keanu was just keanu. I have never seen a less convincing crazy person.
Man, they really pissed that away.

   I'm done ranting now.

Are we all ready for the biopic?

I think we need to travel back in time and kill PKD before he ever write
a word, for his own sake. Its too horrible to watch. And I still have
   to watch Paycheck.
