   Whatever the "blur" might be, people want to draw the line regarding   
   their life as to what is public and private rather than Google or   
   Facebook. I think this is a no-brainer. That's what most people want and   
   many think they have. The recent Facebook and Buzz privacy events should   
   serve to put people on notice that their existence is not private, that   
   they live in a cage being studied by hoards whitecoats with tick lists,   
   like rats in a behavior science lab.   
      
   The whole opt out/opt in thing goes back to the 90s and telemarketing.   
   Nowadays residential landlines are colonized by recordings and bots. It   
   is not a 'mistake' or something that got 'overlooked' that Facebook and   
   Buzz started opt out and open, and that changing that behavior was   
   difficult. That is done on purpose. They lie about it. How many millions   
   -- tens of millions -- became "public" due to it? I don't care about the   
   API. I don't believe liars.
