   Back in the 90s when MS went for the brass ring, there was a reaction   
   to the potential for MS hegemony, finding its expression especially in   
   Open Source.  These days with Google going for the brass ring, I am   
   surprised at the docility of the reaction -- or perhaps better said:   
   the absence of reaction.   
      
   It's a data-point worth noting.
