   Hello, well two main diferences:
   - this uses LoRa among the regular other mediums, package radio, internet, etc
   etc
   - It has taken off specially in the hacker community, is the main topic on
   hacker events and meetups
for the last year, lof of people is actually using it because of the long
   distance
up to 300km is the record, like in voluntiers are creating networks all over
   mayor
urban cities and interconecting in diff ways.

I am not an expert, I started recently, but as you at first I though ok...
   another wifi mesh
but this is different, and the low power and not having to have a HAM license
   makes it
very usable, some hackers are writing a lot of cool software, like MUD games
   and BBS's
