From: Omixochitl2002@yahoo.com              OK, so I finally downloaded this one the other day. Anybody else seen it?       I'd take back my "Matrix 2 is the first cyberpunk chick flick" statement       earlier, except I'm not quite sure if this counts as cyberpunk and/or chick       flick.              Anyway, random thoughts:       - The premise reminded me a *lot* of Gibson's _Idoru_, except everybody       knew Rei Toei wasn't flesh and blood.       - And except this one wasn't much punk.       - Pretty low key art film, even though it's mostly about hype. Not bad.       :)       - Yeah, it's a movie about moviemaking, but there's enough other stuff to       keep it interesting.       - Funny at times, especially the concert scene (the music's lame until you       realize just which song it is).       - Very sentimental, so maybe it could count as a chick flick - except the       main chick isn't even a character the way Rei is, so maybe it couldn't.       - Clever twist at the ending.       - Laney's a 14-year-old preppy in preppy clothes for 99% of the film. Then       in her hacker scene all of a sudden she's in a shiny black jacket*.                                                 * but not a tight one; probably would be tight on a taller adult actress              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
